Dear Norma,
Your message reminded me of some of our experiences with our borzoi. One of our favorite activities to do with our borzoi is to take them for long walks in a large county park near our home, for their exercise as well as ours. It is a well known park and draws people from a wide area. We live in a large metropolitan area outside of New York City where there are large immigrant populations from all over the world.
We have been surprised how frequently we have come upon elderly Russian couples out walking in this park. They are so moved at the sight of us walking with four borzoi. We always offer to bring the dogs over and let them pet them if they want to, and our dogs always seem to enjoy the interaction. I can tell how much it means to them to be able to see a dog from their homeland. They always reminisce with us a bit and linger with the dogs before walking on. Sharing our borzoi with others has become one of the unexpected pleasures of owning these special dogs for us.
