My Blog has not been active for some time due to the demands of living in my home alone and the caring for my Silken Windhound, Kensie, have placed on me. There were many times when I felt I could not go on and wished to escape all that I have created here since coming to my home with four borzoi in December of 2012 after my husband’s premature death. Then, the recent software changes made what was once a simple way to enter my posts more difficult for me to grasp, and I needed to ask my webmaster for help.
Without noticing it, many years have passed, and I found myself at a milestone birthday this summer, 75 years. I looked around me and realized the small cottage I moved into in 2012 had been transformed into a beautiful home, full of borzoi art and sentimental photographs, surrounded by gardens everywhere. It has never been said that I live simply.
I decided to open my home to twenty of my closest friends, virtually all borzoi breeders, and have a big 75th birthday party. I hired a wonderful caterer to help me whom I had met a year ago when I attended a wedding she catered and asked her if she would cater for my party. She said she would love to do it and the party was planned. It took place at my home in Mountainside, New Jersey on July 26, and everyone stayed until the end and appeared to be having a wonderful time. My associate hostess was my Silken Windhound, Kensie, who worked the room with ease, making everyone feel welcome.
I will always look back on this birthday party with warmest of memories for the joy it brought me to have so many wonderful people with me in my home together at once all of them wishing me well. I realized how lucky I truly am to be here and have these people in my life. And Kensie, of course, Kensie, could not be a better dog, for a Silken Windhound, she is very much like a borzoi in every way. She made everyone feel welcome with her attention and affection. I am so blessed to have her as my companion during this phase of my life.
