Westminster Kennel Club’s Annual dog show in New York City is going on as I write. It is such a joy to be able to turn on the TV and watch the Groups being judged, and later tonight, the Best of Show class.
It began yesterday and last night with the Hound Group, Hearding, Toy and Non-Sporting. A gorgeous Blood Hound that caused me to gasp when the camera did a close up as he was being judged won the Group. It was a hard choice. The Basset was wonderful, too. A Cardigan Corgi won the Herding Group. I would have chose the wonderful Collie. The number 1 collie in the country from CT. What was the judge thinking. Non-Sporting was won by the Miniature Poodle. The Toy Group was won by a Mini Pinz. I did not concur. It was a busy night. Such fun.
Tonight is Working, Sporting and Terrier. Then Best in Show. Again, so much fun. Nothing can substitute for the joy that dogs bring to me. Even if they belong to someone else.
I wanted to mention that the wonderful couple whom I met last May in Lancaster, PA, Chris and Patti Neal’s bitch won the breed for Borzoi. The Zucker’s dog “Royal” won BOS, so that was very exciting. I wish I were there, but it was out of the question in light of my health. I was there in spirit. I was done with my appointment to get my medication. I could be at home and finally relax and not worry about my illness for the next two weeks.
